Presenting at ISJAC Un[Charted] Territory Conference

In May 2020, I was fortunate to have received a COVID-19 Commission Grant from the International Association of Jazz Arrangers and Composers. The subsequent piece for big band, Another Day In Which To Excel, was released on all streaming platforms in January 2021. I am excited to be presenting the piece at ISJAC’s upcoming virtual conference Un[Charted]Territory for their grant awardee showcase.

The virtual booths take place from 5:30-6:30pm on Saturday March 20th. Registration is free, but a tax-deductible donation to ISJAC is encouraged to help promote further programming.

I will be playing the piece along with the score, there will be a Q&A, as well as some sneak peeks at the new Study Score Companion to Another Day In Which To Excel. The Study Score Companion is a new 30-page educational resource of how to create a contemporary piece for big band from start to finish. It features in-depth analysis of melodic material, formal construction, orchestration, and a guide through the many compositional decisions that pop up while writing a piece. Head over to the Store to grab your copy!
